What makes a residential proxy good for Japan?

A good Japanese residential proxy passes three tests: its IPs belong to Japanese consumer ISPs, it can target the city your data depends on, and its pricing does not penalise small or irregular use. Protocols, rotation options and integrations are standard across serious providers; these three points are where they differ.

An IP from a Japanese residential pool is announced by the household's internet provider, so a site that looks up the visitor's ASN sees a consumer network, not a cloud host. The four ISPs below sell fibre ("Hikari") home connections; the carriers sell 4G/5G mobile service.

Proxy typeJapanese networksWhat a site sees in an ASN lookup
ResidentialNTT FLET'S Hikari, SoftBank Hikari, au Hikari, NURO HikariA home fibre subscriber
Mobile 4G/5GNTT Docomo, au (KDDI), SoftBank, Rakuten MobileA phone on a carrier network
DatacenterCloud and hosting companies with servers in JapanA server, not a person

Jade Proxies offers country and city targeting on every plan; ASN targeting at no extra cost; city availability varies. In Japan the targetable cities are Tokyo, Osaka, Yokohama, Nagoya and Sapporo. The residential product page lists every country and city.

Which Japanese sites need a residential IP?

Japanese marketplaces, search engines and ad networks adapt what they show to the visitor's location, so collecting Japan-specific public data requires a Japanese IP. The usual targets and tasks:

  • Rakuten Ichiba and Amazon.co.jp: public price, stock and seller monitoring across categories.
  • Mercari: tracking public listing prices for resale-market research.
  • Yahoo! JAPAN: rank tracking on Yahoo! JAPAN search and price checks on Yahoo! Shopping.
  • Google Japan: google.co.jp rankings, local results and ads as a Japanese visitor sees them.
  • Ad verification and geo-testing: confirming which ads, prices and checkout steps a Japanese visitor gets.

A residential IP on a Japanese ISP looks like an ordinary shopper to these sites. Collect public pages only and keep request rates moderate; account fraud, spam and fake engagement are forbidden by the acceptable use policy.

How much does a Japanese residential proxy cost?

At Jade Proxies, a Japanese residential GB costs the same as one in Vietnam or India: $1.50 for 1 GB, $0.66/GB at 10 GB, $0.52/GB at 50 GB and $0.50/GB from 100 GB. Japan is not a premium market elsewhere either: according to the Jade Proxies East Asia proxy index, 9 of the 10 providers whose prices could be read on 13 October 2026 charge Japanese IPs at their standard rate. SOAX is the exception, with country tiers from $2.00 to $5.00 per GB on its Sandbox plan.

A Japanese-language seller sits above this range: KUJO Proxy listed rotating residential traffic at ¥1,050–1,900 per GB (about $6.66–12.05) on its own pricing page on 5 October 2026, payable by card or Alipay. The full Jade Proxies grid, with every volume tier, is on the pricing page.

Should you use a residential or a mobile proxy in Japan?

Use residential for websites and crawls, and a mobile proxy for apps and mobile-first platforms. Residential traffic is billed per GB and spreads requests across many home IPs, which suits price monitoring on Rakuten or rank tracking on google.co.jp. A dedicated 4G/5G port gives you one carrier IP that apps rate highly, which suits app testing and mobile ad checks.

Japan sits in the Jade Proxies East Asia port zone: $4.50/day, $29 for 7 days or $89.25 for 30 days ($2.98/day), on NTT Docomo, au (KDDI), SoftBank or Rakuten Mobile SIMs. Ports are billed per day, not per GB, under fair use (the carrier may slow or pause very heavy use); dedicated ports are subject to stock per country and carrier; a port not delivered within 24 hours is credited back in full.

How do you target Tokyo or Osaka?

Add the country and the city to the proxy username: USERNAME-country-jp-city-tokyo or USERNAME-country-jp-city-osaka. The full format is USERNAME-country-{cc}-city-{city}-session-{id}-ttl-{minutes}; add only the parts you need.

For multi-page flows, such as a filtered search or a basket, add a session ID: the IP then stays the same up to 30 minutes (the IP can change earlier). Without one, each new connection gets an IP from the pool, usually a different one; to get a new IP on every request, send one request per connection (turn off keep-alive). The guide How do you get a Japanese IP address? walks through the setup and the ASN check step by step.

What are the limits of Jade Proxies in Japan?

Jade Proxies has four limits worth knowing before you buy Japanese IPs:

  1. No static IPs. Jade Proxies sells rotating and sticky residential traffic, not static (ISP) proxies. A sticky session holds one IP up to 30 minutes (the IP can change earlier).
  2. No guaranteed city. City targeting depends on which home devices are online at that moment; test Sapporo or Nagoya with a small plan before a large job.
  3. A $25 minimum top-up. The 1 GB plan costs $1.50, but the first payment is larger than Webshare's or Decodo's smallest purchase.
  4. Crypto only. Jade Proxies takes BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC, SOL and LTC; Japanese sellers such as KUJO Proxy take cards and Alipay.

The strengths follow from the same choices: no ID, no selfie and no documents at any step, traffic that never expires, and one price for Japan and the twelve other countries covered.

Frequently asked questions

Is Japan more expensive than other countries at Jade Proxies?

No. Residential traffic costs the same per GB in Japan as in every other country Jade Proxies covers, from $1.50 for 1 GB to $0.50/GB from 100 GB. Only dedicated mobile ports cost more in East Asia: $4.50/day against $3/day in South and Southeast Asia.

Can I buy Japanese residential proxies with crypto and without ID?

Yes. Jade Proxies accepts BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC, SOL and LTC (USDT on TRC-20 or ERC-20, USDC on ERC-20) and asks for no ID, no selfie, no documents to sign up, top up or buy. The minimum top-up is $25.

Does a Japanese residential IP work for Rakuten and Mercari price monitoring?

Yes, for public product and listing pages. The IP belongs to a Japanese home ISP, so the sites serve it the pages a local shopper sees; keep a moderate request rate and retry failed requests.

How long does Japanese residential traffic last?

It never expires. A 10 GB plan bought for a one-off study of Amazon.co.jp prices stays on your balance until you use it, unlike the monthly plans in the table above, which reset each billing period.

Which protocols work with Japanese IPs?

Jade Proxies supports HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5 on the same gateway for every country. Python, Scrapy, Playwright, Puppeteer and anti-detect browsers connect with a username and password or an IP allowlist.
